Renaissance Castles and Churches

Rothenburg is a medieval walled town that dates back to the 1300's. the intact walls of the city are all walkable with guard towers and turrets. Inside the city each business has the original hanging sign out front. It was like a fairy tale. In fact, this is the area where the Grimm brothers lived.

As we were driving the 'Romantic Road' we saw that every town had their Maypole up. Tradition was that the young men of a neighboring town would try to steal the Maypole. This is a real mote around the city.

The 

town that lost had to host a large party to get it back.
