Bibury, most Beautiful Village in England

We've come to the most photographed place in the Cotswolds, beautiful Arlington Row. This place is famous because the weavers lived here and worked weaving their cloth while hanging the wool out in the field in front. They say the fabrics would stretch across the fields in the day. The Cotswolds were made famous for the sheep and the stone. The sheep for weaving and the stone for building.

We spent the day walking from Bibury along the Coln River. The guide said it was 6 miles but most of use clocked 8+ on our walking apps. It was beautiful and we were very tired (and hot).

Our evening was wonderful too. We met with Woollen Weavers in the village of Filkins. This is the area where William Morris lived and worked. The current owners have lived in a farm here for 50 years, selling fabrics around the world. The old machines were here for spinning, scouring, carding and weaving. They currently weave in a the larger town nearby. This evening was special, we joined their Women's Supper Club that gathers about once a month. These were women of the village who spoke to us about living in Filkins. The food was delicious and the company was enjoyable.

  1. How picturesque! And what a cool look into their textile history.
